Baseball Clinics
Hit. Run. Throw. Catch. Have fun. Our preseason baseball clinics help teach the game and get our youngest players ready for the season. A great refresher for returning players and a valuable introduction to new players, these indoor sessions get your ballplayer out of the cold and prepared for Opening Day.
PROGRAMMING
Built around a combination of small group instruction, technical drills, and age-appropriate gameplay, our youth clinics are designed to teach children ages 4 to 8 the fundamental skills necessary to thrive on the baseball diamond. Taught by seasoned professionals and former players, these highly interactive 55-minute sessions teach coordination and balance with a wide range of basic baseball skills, including:
- Catching
- Proper throwing mechanics
- Fly balls
- Ground balls
- Hitting
The clinics culminate with modified, age-appropriate game play.
SCHEDULE
The clinic is typically offered in two five-week sessions on Saturdays or Sundays running from January through March, (based upon gym availability).
PARENTAL SUPPORT
Because these clinics include some of our youngest participants, we ask that parents assist in helping the clinics to run smoothly. You can help us by doing the following:
- Please have someone attend and be responsible for your young person at every session. If you have to leave, please give the coach your cell phone number.
- Disclose any health or behavioral issues at the time of registration. Do this in our registration form using the ‘comments’ box and please let the coaches know prior to the start of a session.
- Volunteer to help. While our professional coaches run these clinics, we love parents who jump in and lend a hand. If you are so interested, please speak with acoach prior to the start of a session and he or she will have something for you to do.
- And…for league play, please consider volunteering as a coach. 78 Youth Sports is a non-profit that relies on involved parents to help run our great community sports programs. For more information about volunteering, click here.
- Lastly, we ask that you review our Code of Conduct and prepare your child to listen, follow directions and participate. (Yes, much like school.) For any child that repeatedly disregards the rules, coaches will:
- First, work to help the child improve or change the unwanted behavior. If the child continues to misbehave,
- The coach will give a “time out” to the child where he/she must sit with his/her adult, and
- Finally, in extreme cases, we will remove the child from the sessions altogether with no refund.
GEAR
Every participant will receive a 78 Baseball Academy jersey. We require participants to wear athletic footwear appropriate for a gym floor and bring their glove (bats are optional).
DISCOUNTS AND FINANCIAL AID
We offer multi-session and sibling discounts. Financial aid is also available, space permitting,
